How has God shown up in your life?

Dear Church Family,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It’s important for us to take time to give thanks. Giving thanks is an important part of worship. There are many reasons to praise the Lord, but thanksgiving expresses our gratitude for what He has done for us and how He has provided in our lives. In fact, the word “thank(s)” occurs 46 times in the Psalms and “thanksgiving” shows up nine times. Thanksgiving is an important part of worship among the people of God. We thank Him when we remember and recount what He has done.

Psalm 75:1 (ESV)
We give thanks to you, O God;

we give thanks, for your name is near.
We recount your wondrous deeds.

What has God done for you? When is the last time you stopped and wrote down the things the Lord has done for you. There is something special that happens when we look back, remember, and choose to praise God for His goodness in our lives. Would you consider doing this today? Maybe it’s just looking back at this month. It would be great to look back at this whole year and recount those wondrous deeds of God. How awesome would it be to try to write down the big ways God has shown up in your whole lifetime?

Part of giving thanks is recounting those things to Him, but another part is telling them to one another.

Psalm 145:4-7 (ESV)
One generation shall commend your works to another,

and shall declare your mighty acts.
 5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
 6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
 7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
Who can you tell of His wondrous works and His mighty acts? Who, today, needs to hear of his fame and know of His abundant goodness?
