Dear Church Family, Are you someone who likes to wait? Whether it’s waiting for the light to turn green or waiting on a family member to leave the house, not too many of us enjoy sitting still. Why is it so hard? Today I was reading Psalm 25 and noticed the word “wait” show up three times in the passage. In this Psalm, David prays to the Lord for direction and deliverance from his enemies. As he prays, he commits to wait on the Lord. Psalm 25:1-5 (ESV) To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. 2 O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. 3 Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. 4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. 5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. David knows that the Lord is His hope and shield. As he faces many obstacles, he truly trusts in God to protect him and guide his steps. I think the key to David’s ability to wait on God hinges on his deep trust in God. He truly doesn’t want to move forward unless he knows it is what God wants. Many times when I struggle to wait on God, it’s because I have my ideas, plans, and solutions. Part of waiting on Him is to find His ideas, plans, and solutions to my problems. Are you having a hard time waiting on God? Is there a decision where you want to move forward, but you aren’t sure it’s what God wants? Would you consider waiting on Him, asking Him to make you know His ways and teach you His paths? God often uses waiting to drive us closer to Him. While we wait, we can pray, along with David: Psalm 27:7-8 (ESV): Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! 8 You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” –Pastor Dave ————————————————————————————————————————- What’s Happening at Gospel Life:A Family Affair: Your whole family is invited to join us at Orah Brandt Park (7999 Cherry Ln.
