January 9, 2026

Dear Church Family,

Have you ever had good news to share? Maybe it was an engagement or the news of a cancer-free diagnosis. It’s hard to keep good news to yourself. You want to share it with everyone! As believers, we have the best news ever to share: the Gospel. On Sunday, I preached from Colossians 4:2-6.

Colossians 4:2-6 (ESV)
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. 5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Here is my challenge for us, as a church, in 2026: Let us walk in wisdom by praying for and using the open doors God gives us to bring His Gospel to those who do not know Him.
This year, will you pray for open doors for the Word, and for God to help you explain the Gospel clearly? What doors does He need to open in your life? Pray for God to open those doors that are shut right now. When those doors open up, pray for Him to give you the right words to declare the mystery of Christ.

Will you also look for opportunities to share the Gospel. We walk in wisdom towards outsiders by making the most of every opportunity. What doors are already open for the Gospel? Choose to walk through those doors.

Will you speak with gracious words. Just like salt seasons food, let grace season our words. May the words we speak, declare loudly the grace of the Gospel we believe. How does your speech need to change this year?

Most of all, let us depend on God’s power to work in and through us this year. We need Him this year just like we have every other year. We truly can do nothing without Him.

Acts 1:8 (ESV)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
