Dear Church Family, Wouldn’t it be amazing to have God’s good hand on your life? I started reading through Ezra in my quiet times. The books starts with a group sent back to Jerusalem from exile to rebuild the temple. In chapter seven, Ezra is sent back in a second wave to lead the people to repentance. We’re told three times in this chapter, that God’s hand was on Ezra.
God makes it very clear that His hand was on Ezra. How do we receive that same blessing? While God gets to choose how He blesses and uses each one of us, there are certain things that He is looking for in each of us. We see two of these these explained in Ezra 7:10 and 8:22. Ezra 7:10 (ESV) Verse 10 explains that God’s hand was upon him because he chose to: 1) study God’s Word, 2) obey God’s Word, 3) teach others to do the same. God will bless any effort to know and apply Scripture to our lives. Jesus reminds us of this in John 13:18 (ESV), “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” Are you in the Word? Have you been applying the things you’ve learned? Is there anyone you’ve given His truth to? Ezra 8:21-23 (ESV) Ezra fasts and prays for God to keep him safe, because he had already told King Artaxerxes that God’s hand was on them. In his explanation, he says that “The hand of our God is for good on all who seek him.” If we want His hand on us, we need to seek Him first. Ezra does this as he fasts and prays and truly seeks God, and God listens to his prayer. Do you understand that you need His hand on you? Are you truly seeking Him? Are you humbly coming to Him with your needs? –Pastor Dave —————————————————————————————What’s Happening at Gospel Life: Youth Group: All youth are invited this Sunday, October 5th, from 5-7 pm, to the Bronleewes’ house.
