Dear Church Family,

Do you know how much God loves you? He has proven it over and over. John 3:16 reminds us that God gave us His Son because He loves us. Romans 5:8 tells us that Jesus’ death was a demonstration of God’s love. Even so, sometimes we forget that He really does love us. We know how sinful we are and undeserving of that great love. I was reading this morning in Isaiah 62 about God’s future restoration for Israel. While these words are specifically for them, they are an example of how He loves His own:

Isaiah 62:3–5 (ESV)
You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. 4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married. 5 For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

It’s amazing to me that it would say God “delights” in His people and would choose to compare His love for them with love a young man has, as he rejoices over his new bride.

Maybe today you struggle to understand that kind of love. You know how unworthy you are of that love. Maybe you haven’t felt that kind of love from others, even believers. Today, remember that God loves you. Not only does He love you, but He longs to spend time with you. He delights over you. Will you choose to reciprocate that love? Will you accept His love for you? It starts with choosing to place your trust in Jesus. Do you know that you are a sinner and that your sin separates you from God? Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to take your place and pay for your sin? Do you believe that God raised Him from the dead? Will you choose to accept that free gift and trust Him to save you?

John 15:13 (ESV)
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
