Dear Church Family,

I read through Isaiah 12 this morning in my quiet time. It’s such a beautiful passage of praise to God and I decided to share the entire chapter with you. It comes right on the heels of a description of the Millennial Kingdom in chapter 11, where God would bring the people back to the land and establish His Messiah as King. This chapter describes the response of the remnant as they return and find their salvation in the Lord.

Isaiah 12:1-6 (ESV)
You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2    “Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
5    “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
6    Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

I love the response the people will have, when they understand just how incredible their salvation is. The description in verse three really moved me, “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Salvation is a well that doesn’t run dry. It refreshes, restores, and gives life. It brings joy to those who draw from it. It reminds me of our own salvation. We find joy when we draw from the well of salvation. Our natural response should be the same thanksgiving and praise described in verses five and six.

Today, would you stop and remember your well of salvation. Think about what you were saved from. Think about what it cost God to save you. Think about what He has saved you for. May you find joy, give thanks, make known His deeds, proclaim that His name is exalted, praise Him, shout, and sing for joy.

What’s Happening at Gospel Life:

No Youth Group: We’re taking this Sunday off for Mother’s Day. Also, we won’t have regular youth group the following Sunday, on May 18th, as we’ll have our Senior Dinner for graduates and their parents. We would love to have youth help out with the dinner, so if you are a non-graduate and are interested in helping, please contact Heidi Bronleewe for details.

New Men’s Life Group: We are starting a new group for those new to or young in the faith. We’ll go through important and foundational truths for those wanting to grow in their walk with Christ. We meet online using Google Meet on Thursday mornings from 7-8:30am. Talk to Pastor Dave, if you are interested in joining.

Graduate Sunday: We’ll be celebrating our graduating seniors on Sunday, May 18th, during the morning worship service, taking time to honor and pray for them. If you have a graduating senior and would like them to participate, please contact Pastor Dave (daveb@gospellifebc.com). We will also have a dinner that evening for them and their parents. Let Pastor Dave know if you can make it to that, as well.
